Our Heartfelt Journey in Berkeley

El Tiny Cafe in Berkeley reflects a decade of hands-on experience, family values, and a blend of Mexican heritage with American life. Our journey began with a simple wish: to spend more time with our children while sharing something meaningful with our community. After working every role in the coffee industry, we were inspired by our young daughter proudly brewing "cafecito" to create a space centered on joyful, everyday moments.

Our name combines Spanish and English as a nod to those lovingly made small cups and our blended roots. Launching in 2020 amid the pandemic was challenging, but Berkeley’s support turned our dream into a home away from home. Beyond serving great coffee, we source our beans exclusively from women farmers in Chiapas, Mexico—uplifting Latin women from harvest to cup. Our story is rooted in gratitude, empowerment, and building a space that feels like family.
